Living “off-the-grid” is a joy and a challenge, especially when living on an island; and that is what it is like living here in Freeport, Nova Scotia.

When you live in Nova Scotia, it is very common for the power to go down as the high winds knock down the power lines a d sometimes it can take hours to days until power is restored.

Living in Freeport NS, which is on Long Island, a person needs to have a reliable “off-grid” setup as “island living” is very different.

Before getting the iPowerTower system for my off-grid electrical needs, I was looking at various options; solar, wind, water, and of course thermal-electric (ie: fire).

ALL “natural” off-grid electricity requires a type of source. Water needs constant current and flow for a water generator to work. Wind needs to be constant as well. Solar needs good strong sunlight and does not work at night, nor during overcast. So what’s left? Fire.

This is where the inventors at TecTeg have created what I think is the most versatile Thermal Electric Generator.

Using a fire source, water, and the iPowerTower unit a person can have real on-demand power ANY time they need it!

Using the iPowerTower I can connect to the 5V USB slot and charge/recharge AA batteries, AAA batteries, external USB powerbanks (I have 2x 20,000 mAh powerbanks).

Also, using the DC output coupled with some “MacGuyver skills” and common sense, I was able to connect the charger to recharge my Black and Decker 20V Lithium Ion batteries so I can have power tools in a full off-grid system!

The added bonus that the iPowerTower also heats up the water is great when you are off-grid as you can never have enough hot water. This heated water can be used for coffee, tea, washing plates, emergency first aid (ie: heat compress) … the list goes on.

“Waste not, want not” is an old saying, and the iPowerTower really shows this in its features.

The iPowerTower is a remarkable product, extremely versatile, portable, easy to use, and reliable.

Hello,

I wan to thank you and this company for the support and advice given to me throughout the past months. My project was a success and i got a very high mark from my supervisor. The final designed and fabricated device was able to successfully trap and convert the exhaust gas waste heat into electricity well and with expected efficiencies. Also the water cooling block performed way better than the ebay Liquid sink i purchased. I was able to get 30% more power using your liquid sink than the ebay sink. i took it apart to see why it works so much better and realize just how much of a better design it is to the cheap one i tested against. It maintaining a constant cold side temperature though out the long test.

Thanks once again for all the answered questions and advice.

Sincerely,
Moses

This last week i had more of a chance to play with the unit… and i am very impressed on its power output and ease of use, I’m using sterno for the moment to play with it, but will be trying a rocket stove for a more permanent setup.

I have shown the unit to a few peoples, so I understand about word of mouth, I am always “talking shop” about off the grid living… so I most certainly have brought up this device. I myself may order another one soon… Ive always referred people to there website when i get fun items as such…. so you’ve got my referral.

I received my IPowerTower, and I love it. I am just an individual, that experiments with off the grid power.

I have a cabin that’s powered with solar panels and deep cycle batteries… in the winter i have trouble keeping them charged so i purchased the Ipowertower to see if i could trickle charge my batteries and keep them topped off. For the most part my off the grid power setup is for lights, radio, media, charging laptops, phones, pads, Power tool batteries…. i know serious setups power entire homes but i don’t have washer-n-dryers, fridgerators, or any deep draw items, when i do need serious power i fire up a generator.

My draw to Seebeck devices is because here in Alaska or in any survival situation A Fire is a given… your gonna use fire than why not tap the power off it? and So I have played with individual Seebeck units and after tinkering and researching I came across your device and thought… Lets try it. Its affordable and is well designed. I went ahead and ordered your usb converter device as to not have to come up with a circuit for some of my experiments.

I can see a market for this here… we have lots of alternative lifestyle people here that do live off the grid. Your larger unit that attaches to a wood stove I think you call it the rabbit ears cool name sounds and looks Amazing! perhaps somewhere down the road I would like to try it out. But I have no business to sell items as such. I do thank you for the device, it arrived fast!

Thank you.
